Simple Reasons Why Homeschooling Is A Great Choice For Your Children
Posted in Uncategorized on November 15th, 2011 by adminMany parents nowadays are considering home schooling as an alternative to public or even private schools. The advantages for children and parents alike in homeschool definitely outweigh the drawbacks. Before you make this decision, you should be aware of certain critical factors, and we’ll be focusing on some of these points in this article.
First, we would like to address the fact that when you send your kids to a public school, they are confined to that place all year.
If your family wants to take a trip, it has to be over the summer, or during holiday breaks, because otherwise it will conflict with school. The benefit of homeschooling your children in regard to traveling is that you can pack up and leave at any point. You can virtually travel anywhere you want to and it is totally okay. Your trips do not have to be solely a vacation; it can be an educational trip going wherever you want to. Since you are not limited to specific times of the year, you can save thousands of dollars on any vacation traveling during the off-season. In regard to families, homeschooling allows them to remain close together. Families often find themselves splitting apart as the children get older. Your influence of your children will also begin to dissipate. When you are the teacher, you can get to know your kids in a way that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. As you may have guessed, this is not without its own challenges. One of the challenges you will encounter is teaching your kids about subjects you may not know that much about. Overall, homeschooling is more popular than sending your kids to school specifically in regard to spending more time with them.
Home schooled children are at a disadvantage because a parent cannot possibly supply all of the resources that a school can. Both children and adults tend to take for granted all of the space, buildings, technology and other resources that exist on school property. Only the financially well-off are likely to be able to offer such luxuries at home for personal use. Your home probably doesn’t contain a library, a gymnasium, a science lab, sports fields, etc. Free, public resources such as libraries and parks are available, but they lack the convenience that a school campus has to offer. Homeschooling is still a viable alternative to regular school, despite the fact that this problem cannot really be overcome.
Sometimes, parents will see homeschooling as a blessing as it will allow them to raise their children with their values and not the ones learned in the public school system. There are good and bad points in regard to public school education and homeschooling, all of which must be considered when determining where your child will be educated.
